A Samskruti Foundation Initiative Celebrating Swami Vivekanandas Legacy
The timeless message of Swami Vivekananda “Be Good, Do Good” continues to guide generations of Indians towards self improvement and service. Upholding this spirit, Samskruti Foundation celebrated the Vivek Band Campaign 2024 from January 12 to 26, uniting students, teachers, and communities across India in a common call for positive action and character building.
The Purpose: A Movement of Values and Action
The Vivek Band is not just a wristband it’s a symbol of a pledge. A pledge to lead a life of integrity, compassion, and responsibility. The campaign encourages everyone, especially youth, to consciously commit to doing at least one act of goodness every day.
With the slogan “Be Good, Do Good,” the movement seeks to transform individual character into collective strength turning inspiration into impact, and values into visible action.

“This band is a reminder that transformation begins with each of us when we decide to do good, we create ripples that touch countless lives.”
Celebrating Swami Vivekanandas Birthday as a Festival of Service
From January 12 (National Youth Day) marking Swami Vivekanandas birth anniversary to January 26 (Republic Day), thousands of students across schools and colleges wore the Vivek Band as a symbol of self discipline and service.
Workshops, volunteer activities, and cultural programs were organized under the guidance of Samskruti Foundations Cultural Leadership Centres (CLCs), which serve as local hubs for youth engagement and value based education.
Across Telangana and other states, students pledged to uphold Swamijis ideals of fearlessness, truthfulness, and service to society embodying the motto of “Nation Building through Character Building.”
Programs and Activities Across Institutions
This year’s campaign witnessed enthusiastic participation from colleges, universities, and community groups that conducted diverse “Do Good” activities:
Cleanliness and tree plantation drives
Blood donation and health awareness camps
Support to underprivileged children through book and clothes donation
Interactive talks on leadership, ethics, and self reliance
Online challenges encouraging youth to share their “Do Good” acts
Every participant wore the yellow Vivek Band as a visible reminder of their commitment to moral action and community service.

Connecting Virtue with Action: The Role of CLCs
The Cultural Leadership Centres (CLCs) under Samskruti Foundation played a pivotal role in expanding the reach of the Vivek Band campaign.
Each CLC mobilized student leaders, organized “Be Good, Do Good” sessions, and encouraged practical engagement through volunteer activities. The campaign thus became an experiential platform helping youth learn the power of service and teamwork.
These centres continue to mentor students to evolve as leaders rooted in Bharatiya values, combining intellectual growth with emotional and ethical development.
Messages of Inspiration
Eminent academicians, spiritual leaders, and defense veterans shared messages of encouragement during the campaign, emphasizing the need for values based education and cultural awareness among India’s youth.
Speakers reminded students that Swami Vivekanandas message is not confined to philosophy it is a practical guide to nation building through selfless action, discipline, and dedication.
“Every generation has the responsibility to uplift society through its thoughts, words, and deeds. ‘Be Good, Do Good’ is not just a slogan it is a mission for life.” Dr. C. Umamaheswara Rao, IAS (Retd), Chairman, Samskruti Foundation
A Growing Movement of Hope
Over the years, the Vivek Band campaign has become one of the largest youth led value movements in India, reaching lakhs of students and professionals. Its message resonates in classrooms, corporate offices, and communities wherever people choose to act with goodness and integrity.
The campaign’s digital outreach on social media platforms also ensured that the message of “Be Good, Do Good” reached thousands beyond physical events spreading awareness and inspiring everyday acts of kindness.
Towards a Brighter Tomorrow
As the 2024 campaign concluded on Republic Day, Samskruti Foundation reaffirmed its vision to continue building platforms that unite youth around timeless Indian values.
Through campaigns like Vivek Band, Yoga for Youth, Rakhi for Soldiers, and National Science Day, the Foundation continues to nurture cultural awareness, character, and civic responsibility among the youth of India.
“When we wear the Vivek Band, we don’t just wear a thread we wear a thought. A thought that binds us all in the spirit of service, culture, and compassion.”
